This magnificent Lion was over 20 years old at the time and was being looked after in an animal equivalent of a retirement home with very dedicated staff, along with one or two lioness also in need of care.

I'm so glad you explained the story behind this image. It says more than a thousand words could ever say. A truly magnificent image. Heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
