While taking this photo, I felt as though I was intruding on a very special moment between the viewer and the fourth President of the United States, James Madison. Looking closely, one can see that our fourth POTUS is not looking straight ahead but appears to be looking in the direction of the man in the long coat. The lighting intended for the illumination of the painting presents a perfect frame and reinforces the focal point of the space. This appeared to be a scene that was more thoughtful and profound.
