With a severe lack of resources, motor mechanics in Cuba improvise by taking working parts from domestic appliances to fix their cars and trucks from the 1950's. For example, if the motor from an electric window fails, they may well use one from an electric whisk. In Cuba, for this reason, they are known as 'Magicians' rather than mechanics.

I appreciated your information about these guys. It's interesting...and should but probably won't be instructive to us Americans with our "throw away" mentality...to learn that it's possible to be more resourceful with what we have....especially since "built in obsolescence" is something that manufacturers have figured out to increase sales of stuff.

It looks like they've got something pretty large and heavy propped up on blocks; makes me wonder what they're installing! Great composition of the shot!
