GER Y14 0-6-0 No 564, built at the Great Eastern Railway (GER) Stratford Works in 1912, and withdrawn from service in 1962. As GER it was Class Y14, but as LNER it was Class J15. The Y14 class were introduced in 1883 to haul coal trains and were so successful that construction continued until 1913. 289 were built, the largest class on GER. No 564 spent most of its working life in Norfolk and Suffolk. It was purchased by the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway Society (MGNR) and a restoration returned it to a condition closely matching that when it entered service. It is seen here at Holt Station on the North Norfolk Railway hauling a passenger train of period carriages.
