The TSS Earnslaw, a twin-screw coal burning steamship was launched in 1912. Today she continues daily cruises on Lake Wakatipu New Zealand. She was built in Dunedin, disassembled, transported, and reassembled at Kingston. She was originally designed to transport sheep, cattle, as well as passengers. The TSS Earnslaw was nearly scrapped, but fortunately she was rescued in 1968. She is the only commercially operated steam ship in the Southern Hemisphere.
