The sun is low behind the Sierra Nevada, and the warm water mashes are bathed in an orange light. The Pine Nut Mountains are in the background and my back was to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the setting sun when I took this exposure. Although winter, the marsh remains a constant 84 degrees because of the thermal springs that feed it. Fish have adapted to the warm waters as have frogs and waterfowl.
