“The best advice I've received is to keep shooting and to take your camera everywhere. I say keep shooting because unlike the film days with digital you can learn so quickly as you can instantly review your results. I travel a lot for my day job, so I'm just in the habit of carrying my camera bag and a light tripod everywhere I go. So many of my best photographs simply happened because I came upon something and was lucky to have my camera with me. It could be the way the sun happened to be that morning or that evening along with the colors of the flowers or trees. I never know what I might see and have the opportunity to photograph. “
“Okay, why do I love photography? Well, I must admit that photography is very intimate and personal to me. It was always some kind of personal gateway. That's why I love it. I create images that may or may not fully exist in the 'real' world but they sure exist in my mind. Those characteristics are what makes photography an important part of my life. Being given a chance to express myself and my impressions of the world while simultaneously exploring myself and that same world.. how could I not love it?”
“I would say that the most helpful thing in my photographic journey has been the support that I've received from everyone. One of the hardest things about being a photographer is gaining awareness and/or recognition for you work, and all of my friends have been so helpful and encouraging with all of my endeavors. I really couldn't do it without them.”
"I've always been inspired by the natural beauty of the world. I love taking pictures of flowers most of all because of their bright colors and intricate details. I've also always been inspired the contrast between light and dark. When I was six years old, my parents gave me my first film camera, an older model Minolta, and my dad began working with me on capturing different kinds of natural light and the shadows that were created by that light, while my mom taught me to never put my camera down because you never know what you'll miss if you do! My world inspires me every day, even when I don't have my DSLR around, I'm constantly taking pictures on my phone. I've been a photographer for 15 years now and I'm still learning new things and getting better at it every day!"
