3 easy tips to follow on how to take great photos of cities:
1. Find reflections
Many renowned buildings and structures are photographed consistently and most likely you've seen them in more than a handful of photos. Find a creative perspective looking for reflections on water or other buildings of the main subject you are going after. This will additional textures to your photos and you will have a more original shot : )
2. Try your luck at night
Capturing traffic lights in motion can significantly upgrade your photo. Try higher ISOs and slower shutter speeds to get the perfect night city photo. To get an even more dramatic photo of a city or town, shoot with fog, rain, or mist. Always be safe, remember big cities have safer areas than others. Try not to be on your own, especially at night.
3. Go after patterns
In addition to big structures and busy intersections, cities and towns offer a lot for the urban photographer. To take a good photo of a city, try to find a flow of patterns around or within the main subject to capture the attention of those viewing your photos.
