Congratulations Peopel's Choice "Music for Deaf" by YuliyVasilev

"We want to highly commend ‘Music for the Deaf’, which we’ve selected as the runner up to our Grand Jury Winner. The juxtaposition between the accordion player and his ‘audience’ adds a wonderful element of humour to the shot, which we were really impressed with. The photographer has demonstrated great awareness of composition by placing the wall and the accordion player one third of the way across the frame, in accordance with the ‘rule of thirds’ for a visually attractive image. The use of a slow shutter speed to blur the people walking past the accordion player showcases not only good technical skill and understanding, but also the imagination to apply this in a creative way to create a brilliant photo." - StreetHunters Team

Congratulations Grand Jury Winner "Alone" by troyolsenn

"We thought this was an exceptionally powerful photograph and well deserving of the Grand Jury Winner Prize. The composition is absolutely excellent, with the walking figure right on the centre line of the frame, and the photographer has managed to freeze the figure right at the converging point of the leading lines of the edges of the street, which is very difficult to achieve, and demonstrates not only excellent vision, but also great timing. We were incredibly impressed by the way the ray of sunlight plunges down between the buildings and appears to almost spill onto the street like a waterfall, while the rest of the shaft of light leads down the street and straight to the viewer’s eye, forming a strong link which draws the viewer into the image. The dominant light and heavy shadows lend this photo a very graphical feel, so much so that we felt it wouldn’t look out of place on the cover of a video game or as an album cover. This image is simple, compelling and memorable, all the hallmarks of a truly great photograph." - StreetHunters Team
