Here is something we can learn from denisvoloshin about the techniques and story behind this awarded photo.

1. denisvoloshin, where did you take this photo?

I took this photo in Donetsk/Ukraine near the football stadium. When we came there with Katya we saw hundreds of football fans near the stadium and we remmembered that there is a play today. So we were taking pictures between the fans and also it was little rainy that day. Well my advice dont give up and do your thing. As practice shows the more troubles you meet on your way to good photo the better the result

2. What time of day?

It was an evening and the light above the picture is one of the citylights near the stadium, so i had to raise the iso

3. Anything worth sharing about lighting?

How did i got an idea of this photo? We just came to that place, i saw that light above and told to model to stand near that light and told that we can do several photos in one pose with several hand positions and than connect them in one photo. So we made several different variationd of the hands movement and then i composed that photos in Photoshop, cut hands into parts and made that parts of different colour to make that mood even more bright.

4. What equipment did you use?

I used my Canon 6d with canon 50/1,4 lens. I dont have a tripod at that time, so i shoot from my hands

5. What inspired you to take this photo?

Interesting person infront of me - Katya, interesting lightning and interesting place. All of that made that mood and inspired us for that photo

6. Did you do any post-processing? if yes, tell us about it!

I connected several photos with different hands positiond into one photo. Than i cut hands into pieces and made them different colour. I've found a sutable colour scheme on the site color.romanuke.com and applied it to this photo with different correcting layers in Photoshop

7. What equipment do you normally have in your bag?

Canon 6d, canon 50/1,4, canon 28/1,8, canon 85/1,8 and flash.

8. Any advice for others trying to capture something similar?

Just got the right mood and try to transfer that mood to the viewer.
