Mutualism relationship with the Cape buffalo (and other large mammals) and the yellow-billed Oxpecker. The Oxpeckers exclusively eat any tick, blood sucking flies or insects that may be on the buffalo and thus, the birds are well fed and the buffalo free from harmful parasites. The birds also warn their hosts of potential danger. This photo was taken in the Mara North Cponservancy of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Amazing image, Burt! A fine example of how nature cooperates with each other…symbiotic (I’m not a biologist…but similar relationship).
