Behind The Lens

Location

Sitting on the back deck of my house, looking for birds.

Time

It was late in the afternoon.

Lighting

It had been a sunny day, but I was in shade and so was my subject.

Equipment

This shot was taken handheld with a Nikon P1000 bridge cam.

Inspiration

The bluejay was peeking at me over the floor of the deck and seemed curious about what I was doing there. I was just getting back into photography and the birds were not used to seeing me there.

Editing

As I recall, only Photoshop Elements was used for post-processing.

In my camera bag

I used to carry many lenses and more than one body when I was able to go out shooting, but now I'm pretty much confined to home as I'm a caregiver 24/7. I'm using bridge cams and have both a tripod and monopod handy, as well as closeup filters for macro.

Feedback

Patience is the word for bird photography. It's a lot like fishing. :)
