I took this photo about 40 feet under water in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Jupiter, FL.Time
This was a three tank dive starting around 9 am and finishing around 1:30 in the afternoon.Lighting
Light works differently underwater. Colors start disappearing at 15 feet beginning with the color red. I tried to take advantage of the sunlight in this backlit photo and used two Ikelite underwater strobes for fill light.Equipment
Canon 1DX MKIII with a 16-35mm F/2.8L lens in a Nauticam Housing with a 230mm Dome port and Ikelite DS-161 strobes.Inspiration
Since the first time I saw a shark as a boy, I have always wanted to be closer to sharks. Sharks are power, grace, beauty, and awe all rolled up into one perfect animal. Taking photos of them was a bucket list item that now is a weekly thing.Editing
I clicked the black and white button in (removed all the saturation) in Lightroom CC. :DIn my camera bag
For undewater, the equipment described above. The rest of the time, a Canon R3 and lens adapter, a Canon 200-400mm F/4-f/5.6 with built in 1.4x extender, Canon 1DX MKII, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8,Feedback
Learn how to dive well before you take a camera with you underwater. I see new divers lose all sense of what is happening around them when they have a camera or go pro of any kind in their hands. Above water this is fine. Below water, it is simply dangerous.
