Location
This photo was taken in Slinger, Wisconsin.Time
The photo was taken at approximately 10:30 A.M.Lighting
The photo was taken with natural light. The sky was mostly overcast. The clouds provided a light background for the gray tones of the smoke from the locomotive.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 80d with a Canon 18-55 lens at 55mm, ISO 100, f/9 at 1/100th sec. I was laying on the ground when the photo was taken.Inspiration
The locomotive was part of a special event at the Village of Slinger Historical Society. I made sure that I arrived well before the scheduled arrival time so that I could plan where I would be able to capture some good photos. The locomotive remained on display for several hours.Editing
This was originally a color image that was converted to black and white in Lightroom. In my camera bag
In my bag I have my 80d, Canon 18-55, 55-250, and 24mm f/2.8 lenses. I also have a Tamron 18-400 lens. Additionally, I have two remote shutter releases and a Godox TT350 flash and a Gorilla Pod.Feedback
When possible, plan ahead by researching the area and objects that you want to photograph. In this case, the Historical Society had given an estimated arrival time for the locomotive. I arrived well before in order to determine where I would be to start taking photos.
