Behind The Lens

Location

My small studio in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Time

Evening.

Lighting

Simple. One single 9x12 strip light with flags to limit spread and build contrast.

Equipment

Fuji XE-1, 56mmf1.2. Vision 4 strobe with 9x12 strip light. Black flags on each side of strip box like barn doors to contain light. Black backdrop.

Inspiration

The model Austin was interested in shooting a more fashion based ecomm look for an eyewear company.

Editing

Edited in lightroom for exposure. Finished in PShop with frequency separation on skin and localized sharpening on the glasses. Converted to b&w with SilverEFX.

In my camera bag

These days: Fuji X100F for daily shooting, Nikon D800 in studio with Nikkor 85mmf1.4 AFD and 80-200mmf2.8 AFS.

Feedback

Less is more. Simplicity to avoid unnecessary complexity. Cast a model with good skin for contrasty light.
