You have given 2020 a positive swing that is really (nice) positive, a contribution to the Year 2020 Collection. As always, the competition will be tough, which, as an added consequence, makes the victory taste very sweet. Good luck.

Location
I made this picture with two photos that I shot in South Africa and some post-processing: I shot the sky in the Karoo, the semidesert that covers most of the South-African inland, which is a perfect spot for astrophotography, thanks to its dry climate and very low light pollution; the model is my wife walking in the Western Cape countryside; and I created the lagoon with the Milky Way reflection with photoshop.Time
I shot the sky quite early at night, around 8:00pm, because it was winter and the galaxy was already visible at that time of the day. Instead, I photographed the model in full daylight and reduced the lighting in post-processing.Lighting
I had to wait for a night without moon for the sky, otherwise the moonlight would have made it impossible to see the galaxy. But for that, I did not use any artificial lighting.Equipment
I shot the sky with a Canon EOS 6D, Canon 24-105 zoom at 24mm, and Manfrotto tripod. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I absolutely love night photography. Whenever I can, I love to shoot the night sky, and sometimes I add other things that I have shot in daylight, above all during these frequent lockdown periods, when I am forced to stay at home. This particular picture is the cover of my third book, titled: FEARLESS - The story of a girl who is afraid of nothing. I have just self published the ebook in Italian, and I am about to self publish the English version. The book is about 90 pages of pictures and text, and I have tried to express its general mood with the cover: it is quite a surreal story, or maybe a fairytale.Editing
I did a lot of post-processing: not much for the sky, but then I first create the lagoon with the Milky Way reflection, and later I added the model that I had photographed in full daylight, after selecting and copying her from the original photo. Then I had to match the two different lightings and focus, and create the mist between sky and water. I used Photoshop Elements 6 and a lot of patience. Although simple, Elements 6 has all what is needed to create this kind of pictures. In my camera bag
I used to have a Canon 6D with a Canon 24-105 zoom and Manfrotto tripod. I also kept a polarizing lens in my bag. I also used a Canon PowerShot sx20is and a Samsung Galaxy Note 1. Unfortunately I had to sell everything (but for the bag itself!), but I hope I can get the same gear soon.Feedback
If you want to make good astrophotography or even just good night photography, of course you need to get to a spot with these features at least: the least possible light pollution (so no public lighting or houses nearby), no moonlight, clear sky, dry weather with no smog. Rules are made to be broken, so it is also possible to take good night sky shots even with excess light, moonlight and cloudy sky. The only thing which is absolutely necessary is a good spot, which is usually a remote place with difficult access and sometimes dangerous (e.g. in South Africa). As regards manipulations, I think photography has endless possibilities, the only limit is human creativity.
