Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Studio 3MI in Bunker Hill, WV. Josh, the owner, has become a good friend of mine. I am relatively new to photography (started in July of 2020) and he has been a great mentor to me.

Time

I think it was probably early afternoon, although it's impossible to tell since this was shot indoors in a studio. I still feel I got some "evening" vibes into the photo, though!

Lighting

Two ring lights coming from slightly over her on each side

Equipment

My camera is a Olympus E-M10MarkII, and I used 14-42mm lens, and that's it.

Inspiration

This was taken at a workshop featuring Kayla, the model, and she is amazing at free flow modeling. I like coming down to the model's level to make it feel more personable.

Editing

I felt Kayla was already spot-on so I didn't want to alter her in any way, but I did gently touch up the lighting in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Since I am still new at photography, I travel light! I have my olympus camera, the 40-150mm lens, a 45mm lens, and a 14-42 lens. Oh! I recently got an Olympus underwater camera, the T6. I definitely plan on expanding my collection someday though!

Feedback

Work with professional models, and trust them! If I was 100% in charge of 100% of photoshoots, everything would end up looking the same. Also, I always prefer using softer light for boudoir photos, but it's always fun to play around and try new things! Do what works best for you and how you want your work to be.
