As part of a meet-up group meeting that I participated in, I met our Model, Victoria. We were a group of about 4 photographers that participated in this shoot. The time was around 2:30 pm.Lighting
The lighting was consisted of two continuous lights with color transparency film covering each of them. The lights were placed on opposite sides of the model. Camera settings were ISO of 100 f-stop of 6.3 and shutter speed of 1/160 of a secondEquipment
I shot this with a Nikon D-800 using the Tamron 24-70mm F2.8 Lens, hands freeInspiration
The pose of the model caught my eye and along with the combination of the color shining on her prompted this shot. She captured the effect I was looking for at the time.Editing
I used Lightroom to increase the exposure and shadow settings. In my camera bag
Along with my Nikon D-800 frame, I typically have my 24-70mm Tamron lens, a Nikon AF-S VR 70-200mm f2.8, Nikon Speedlight SB-900 FlashFeedback
Besides the lighting and all of the technical components of the shoot, I would say that the main ingredient bringing everything together would be the mood of the model, and your interactions with the model. Be weary of boredom or tiredness and if you see either one of these starting to creep in then try to lighten the mood or give a quick break. If the model is tired or not focused you will definitely see the impact in your image. Interact with one another, ask questions, don't make it a mechanical interaction. You want to see the spark in the models eyes. That is the main magic. Happy shooting.
