Behind The Lens

Location

Taken on the beach in Sea Point, Cape Town.

Time

It ws almost 8pm and sunset

Lighting

I used no extra lighting... as my intent was to test the camera. The only thing I did different was to lift the camera and tilt the lens slightly down. I never use the view finder as I have trouble seeing through it with my glasses. I use the back screen.

Equipment

Panasonic Lumix 20-1200 4k Camera setting C and myself

Inspiration

Going down to the beach to see the sunset, was something I did regularly. Especially on particularly hard days. This was one of these days. The light was fading and I played with my camera trying to get this picture with the bird exactly there.... Not an easy feat... but after numerous pictures it finally got it. I learned that if the lens are tilted down ever so slightly the picture change to this nice deep orange. Since I don't use the viewfinder, but the back screen. I can adjust the picture till I am happy with it. The emotions of that day was truly reflected in this picture.

Editing

I only adjusted the horizon so it was level as it was slightly off.

In my camera bag

My camera.... I don't have fancy equipment as its something I can't afford.

Feedback

Patience, persistence and your self. It took me a week of trying to get this one.... the best way to take great pictures is to allow your natural self to take over. Forget the science, feel the moment, then express the moment, as you would love to share that moment in time with others that will be open enough to feel it. For me it's not about the most expensive equipment, but the clarity of that one moment.
