The picture in the background is actually not a win. The lights don't bother me at all, on the contrary. But that's all a bit of whining on a high level. Or not?

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in furniture shop in Gerlafingen, in a small village in the middle of Switzerland.

Time

The photo was made on 2020 March the 1st at about 15:20.

Lighting

As light source I used a combination of natural light from Windows and a permanent LED light.

Equipment

For this shot I used my Nikon Z6 with the fantastic Nikkor Z 85mm F1,8 S Portrait Lens.

Inspiration

At this day we went to this furniture shop in hope to bring some very cool photos home. But this one was my fixed idea to take a picture more or less exactly in this style. I'm very satisfied with the result.

Editing

After selecting the best photos, I choose a color look then I corrected the light in the image if necessary. Then I I did a classic beauty retouching. And last but not least I crop the image (if necessary). And finished.

In my camera bag

For my portrait shootings I usually use my full format DSLR with a set of (relatively because f1.8 is fast enough for me and these are much lighter then faster lenses) fast primes: A 50mm, a 85mm or 90mm macro, the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom for the slightly wider angles and of course the 70-200mm f2.8.

Feedback

With a good idea and a relaxed model in a good mood you have nearly everything you need. Then choose your shooting location and watch the light during the shoot. A camera with manual control (but don't forget: the best camera is the one you have with you) and then go for it. And yes, don't forget to do some the post-processing ;-)
