Kye Monastery
Kye, Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Kye Gompa is also spelled as Ki, Key or Kee. It's a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,166 metres (13,668 ft) above sea level, close to the Spiti River, in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti district, India. It is the "biggest" monastery in Spiti Valley.
Kye Gompa now belongs to the Gelugpa sect, along with Tabo Monastery and Dhankar Gompa, one of three in Spiti. "The monastery of Kee, for instance, accommodates nearly 250 monks, who reside within the sacred walls in winter, and stay during the summer with their parents or brothers, working in the fields, or employed in carrying travellers' goods. These monasteries have their regular heads, or abbots, and the higher ecclesiastical titles can only be obtained by the candidates proceeding in person to either Shigatzee (Shigatse) or Lhassa (Lhasa)." From here one can have prestine views of the Spiti River and the valley along and the high snow clad himalayas. Key Monastery is located about 16 km from Kaza Bus Stand on the Kibber Road above the Key Village. The monastery offers peace and one can even stay in the monastery premises for 2-3 days on nominal charges and enjoy the local food and learn spiritual learnings from the monks and heads. The most famous here is their local herbal tea. It's a must have thing in this cold desert.

I am just an amateur photographer. I don't think I can give any advice to great shutterbugs out there. Just reach the the good place and form a particular frame to take it.
