Location
I took this image at the girls house, in the main living area to save causing any stress to the snakes.Time
I arrived at the property around 10am and set up my backdrop and my lighting, which was around an hour. Then the girls got ready and we positioned the snakes and I shot for around 30 or so minutes.Lighting
I use Profoto when ever I travel to people’s homes. I use the B10plus and I had a 135cm octabox on the light.Equipment
I shot this using my Sony A7iii with a 55mm lens.Inspiration
I enjoy shooting children with their pets, when I attended the property I was unsure exactly how I was exactly going to shoot this image, the girls got dressed in matching outfits and their matching snakes came out.Editing
The image was edited using photoshop, I cleared up marks on their skin, smoothed it and added some colour grading to the image. In my camera bag
I normally take a big case with me as I never know exactly what I will need, I have 2 Sony A7iii’s, Sony A7iv, I have Profoto b10 and a b10 plus. I also hold a vast range of lenses from 16-35 through to 70-200mm with a mixture of prime and zoom lenses.Feedback
Be patient while working with animals, they will do what they will do, if it’s not quite as you would like make sure you are good with photoshop and make the corrections post. I always use family pets as the children know how to handle their own pets.
