Tigger the tawny owl has always been one of my favorite residents at the World Bird Sanctuary. He has been there most of his life, as he was unreleasable. He is a bird who is used to educate children, and is also one of the first birds that new volunteers are allowed to handle because of his gentle and tolerant nature.Editing
I usually do some post-editing in photoshop, but nothing too drastic. I usually correct some color-balance issues, and work with the levels in the photograph to best represent the subject. In my camera bag
I always keep spare batteries (when you're photographing animals you never know how long it will take to get the shot!) as well as a sketchbook to help jot down ideas and compositions if the subject isn't cooperating at the moment.Feedback
My advice is just to be patient, and take as many pictures as you reasonably can. With animals in particular, it is very rare for one to sit perfectly still, or move in the post that you really want right off the bat. You will have to be patient, and in some cases may even have to return to the site another day. But it always pays of in the end!
