Crane flies are found world wide. Looking a bit like giant mosquitoes with exceptionally long legs in their adult stage, they are sometimes referred to as mosquito hawks. However, anatomically they lack the ability to kill or to eat other insects. As adults they only live for 10 to 15 days.
