Congrats on the PC award! I love the tiny sliver of sun, and the silhouette of the giraffe! Wonderful capture!

Location
The giraffe was photographed in the Honolulu Zoo.Time
It was in mid-afternoon.Lighting
Giraffes have a distinctive shape which is easily recognizable. That is important when creating this type of picture. I converted the giraffe into a silhouette and using photoshop transferred the image on to a separate photo consisting of a beautiful orange sunset. The size of the giraffe was reduced so as to occupy a space located about a two-thirds of the way down from the top and about a third of the way in from the left.Equipment
A Nikon D300s along with an 18-200 mm Nikkor lens.Inspiration
I have a lot of photos of giraffes taken in the wild and in zoos. This one seemed best to convert into a silhouette that would appear to be walking into the scene. I liked that it had its head arched down suggesting that it was the end of a long day.Editing
This is a composite photo consisting of a giraffe silhouette and sunset background. In my camera bag
My current camera is a Nikon D500 coupled with an 18 to 300 mm Nikkor lens. Because the film processor is a little bit smaller than a full frame the lens effect is equal to a 24 to 450 mm lens on a full frame camera. This combination serves me well at least 99 percent of the time because it allows me to take wide-angle and ultra zoom photos on the fly while never having to worry about getting dust on the photo processor because I very rarely ever take off the lens. I use a sling bag to carry the camera so that I can quickly remove the camera without taking the bag off my shoulder. I have also removed almost all of the protective insulation inside the sling bag and replaced it with a gardener's knee pad. Not only does it serve as more than enough protection when the camera is in the bag, if need be I can use the pad to kneel, sit or lie in such a way as to have my elbows on the ground when taking a picture I can do so. I cannot overemphasize how useful this modification has proven to be over the years. In the sling bag I carry spare batteries, SD cards and lens cleaner. Occasionally I will pack in an external flash if I think I will need it.Feedback
I use Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC software for processing my photos. Without Photoshop CC or some similar software, this type of composite photo could not easily be created.
