Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in northern Minnesota.

Time

It was morning, probably around 9 a.m. when I saw this fox family in the woods.

Lighting

The natural lighting was still soft as it was still early morning and the kit jumped onto the rock where there were no shadows, so it was perfect.

Equipment

I used my Canon 5d, mk III with a Sigma 100-600mm lens. I did have the camera on a tripod that day and no flash was used.

Inspiration

There was a mother with a couple of kits. I used a 600 mm lens so they weren't that close. They all moved so fast, but this little guy was very curious and either heard us or sensed us and paused long enough in the perfect spot for me to take a photo.

Editing

I only did minor post -processing, brightness, a little clarity and cropping.

In my camera bag

It depends on what I am shooting. I have a Canon 7D, Mk II, and a Canon 5D, MkIII cameras. I love to shoot wildlife, especially birds as I live in Florida so my Sigma 150-600 is usually attached to one of those cameras. I have many lenses, but another favorite is my Canon 100 macro. I use a Benro carbon fiber tripod with a Jobo gimbel head attached.

Feedback

Patience.
