Behind The Lens
Location
In my home studio in South Carolina. I really enjoy creating scenes that push my creative boundaries and knowledge.Time
Probably sometime in the late evening. I tend you shoot my still life's after a hard days work as a relaxing activity. The perks of having a home studio is I can shoot a myriad of lighting conditions at any time I choose.Lighting
I wanted soft, cool lighting so I used a small led pen light and a faced the scene towards an open window for some of the ambient light as well. It gave the "glow" I was looking for.Equipment
I used my Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II and a Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. I used my lens cushion to set my camera on the table for the shoot.Inspiration
I like to photograph the flowers my husband gives me towards the end of their life as a remembrance.Editing
Tweaked the saturation a bit and added the soft glow effect in Topaz Labs.In my camera bag
Multiple Olympus camera bodies and lenses ranging from 12mm to 200mm. Not really a long range shooter so you'll mostly find macro and wide angle lenses. Also keep a polarized filter and a few graduated ND filters.Feedback
Start with basic objects and lighting sources you have available around you. And then just play around with it all until you've reached your desired effect. Studying studio light setups also really helps to envision what your own setups final product will look like.
