Hamnoy is a small fishing village located on the edge of a lake. Just imagine waking up everyday to this amazing view! This is one of the most photographed location in Norway. I went there to capture a sunset shot, however, that day there were thick clouds. At first i was disappointed, but as I was setting up the camera, the clouds started moving due to strong winds. For a minute the clouds sat on the top of the mountain like a hat and I photographed that moment.

Location
This is a small fishing village in Hamnoy, Norway.Time
This photograph was taken late in the evening. I was there to photograph the sunset, however a thick blanket of clouds started appearing and the sun was not visible at all. After some time the clouds became a blessing in disguise.Lighting
The light was flat. The sky had no colour at all. To a landscape photographer, this kind of light is the worst. However, in this case the clouds actually added spice to the photograph. As the wind started moving the clouds, magic was happening every minute.Equipment
I used a nikon D750 paired with Nikon 16-35 f4 and Sirui Carbon Fiber tripod.Inspiration
I had seen a number of photographs of this very place. While scouting for locations in Hamnoy, i had saved this location and planned my journey accordingly. When i saw this photograph online, what struck me the most was how humans were living in the midst of raw natural beauty. Seeing a small fishing village with red colored houses, surrounded by water with gigantic mountains right in the front was absolutely mesmerising!Editing
The scene was so gorgeous, minimal post processing was required. I simply fixed the ultra wide angle lens distortion and did local dodge and burn in photoshop. In my camera bag
I usually travel with 2 cameras (Nikon D750), a nikon 16 - 35 f4, Nikon 24-70 f2.8 VR and a tamron 70-200 g1. I use a carbon fiber Sirui Tripod.Feedback
The most important tip would be getting to the location early. That way one would get good amount of time to look for better vantage points and plan the shot. Countries like Norway is a common destination for landscape photographers and tourists. You want to get to the location early and set up your camera before other photographers come in. The next tip would be to check the histogram while setting up the rught exposure. Never rely on your camera screen! Histogram would help you see where the highlights are being blown out or shadows are being lost. Another tip that is important would be choosing a good composition. Generally composition is the king, especially with landscapes. Always look out for strong leading lines, a decent foreground, straight horizon lines etc. Bascially while composing a shot, think what you want the viewer to see and then compose the frame accordingly. Too much sky or too little foreground makes a picture loose its beauty.
