This very much looks like where I live. Beautifully done.

Because it is, I took this on the Blue Ride Parkway near where I live in Waynesville. Thank you!

Behind The Lens

Location

It took this photo at one of my favorite spots along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.

Time

It was just before sunset on a June day around 8:10 pm.

Lighting

You never know what you’ll get for lighting on the parkway. You could go everyday for a year to watch sunset and it will different everyday. This particular day the sun lit up the rhododendron perfectly.

Equipment

Sony a6000 mirrorless with a sigma 16mm f1.4 lens. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I go up on the parkway daily to watch sunset. This particular day I knew the rhododendron would be in bloom so I was hoping God would show me something good and he did.

Editing

I shoot in raw so I edited with Lightroom. Not much was needed for this particular shot. Just had to bring up the shadows bring down the highlights and dehaze a tad

In my camera bag

Back then when I took this shot I only had a Sony a6000 with a sigma 16mm lens. I’ve upgraded since then and now I always carry my Sony a7iii mirrorless, 24mm f1.4 GM, Sony 85mm f1.8 and a Sigma 100-400 lens.

Feedback

The weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains is constantly changing same with when the rhododendron bloom, usually May-June. My only advice would be to drive the parkway as often as you can between those two months around golden hour before sunset.
