Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in the front yard of my wife and I's house while my step daughter was waiting for her prom date to arrive.

Time

This photo was taken around 5 or 6 pm I remember the energy in the air of excitement from my both my wife and step daughter as they prepare for my step daughter's last prom.

Lighting

The sun was starting to set and there was a nice glow to my step daughters portrait which enhanced the emotions written on her face.

Equipment

I use a nikon d3300 and was running a 70-200 starter lense

Inspiration

I was taking photos for memories of my step daughters last prom and was practicing portrait shots at the same time hoping she has excellent images to show her kids in the future

Editing

I used minimal post processing in this photo. I did some dodging and burning as well as slight sharpening while turning the image in to a black and white shot

In my camera bag

I have my two starter lenses that came with nikon d3300 kit I also run a Nikor 1.4f 50mm prime lense with tons of filters, small tripod, and cleaning equipment

Feedback

Don't get bogged down in the details of the shot but see the image and the emotions. Find the image hidden in the moment and capture it for your subject, yourself and the memories stored with in the photo.
