Hi PhilB1961, yes this is one of my images taken last time we were in Bali. I have also other shots of the boys at the dam that are in my portfolio here on Viewbug. I have visited the dam a number of times and hope to again during our next visit in a couple of weeks. I would be interested in seeing the image you have seen from the Indonesian photographer. Could you please let me know where to find it. Kind regards John

Location
This photo was taken at Tukad Unda Dam in the village of Klung Klung, BaliTime
The shot as taken early in the morning with the sun behind me so there is plenty of light on the subjectLighting
Early morning here is much better as the sun is behind you and the light on the subject is much brighter. Even on an overcast day the light earlier in the day is better for this location.Equipment
For this shot I was using a Canon 80D camera with a Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6L IS USM lens. The image was taken at 1/1250s, f7.1 and ISO 500 with a focal distance of 70mm. No tripod or flash was used.Inspiration
I was at the dam to take photos of the boys performing water patterns with buckets when some of the older boys started having a water fight which I felt was worthy of a few shots. I was more than happy with the results.Editing
I am not very good with post processing so this shot was just auto balanced with an auto sharpen. In my camera bag
At the moment I carry two camera bodies, Canon 90D and Canon 80D with three lenses, Canon 15-85mm EFS F3.5 - 5.6 IS USM, Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 L IS USM and Canon 100mm Macro F2-8L IS USM, I also carry circular polarizer and HD filters.Feedback
To get to the position for the best shots it is advisable to wear some reef walkers or thongs as you have to cross a small reasonably shallow rocky river at the base of the dam. Early morning is the best time to photograph the boys if they are there and be prepared to wait if they are not. A small donation for each of the boys to perform is greatly appreciated by them.
