Location
I took this in the backyard of my parents' home in Naracoorte, South Australia.Time
I believe it was late afternoon, when the birds come in to use the birdbath that sits not too far in front of that spot.Lighting
It was just luck and time, since it's a nature shot of a wild animal, lighting is up to nature.Equipment
My mothers Canon 5D Mk III and her 100-400mm Mk II lens.Inspiration
I love nature photography and I love that lens, the pigeon is a common sight at the property and it looking all fluffed was a perfect chance for a cute photo.Editing
Only very minor, cropping, a few small tweaks for lighting in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Now days I have upgraded to a Canon 7D Mk II and carry around a 50mm lens, a 25mm wide angle, a 105mm macro and my 18-400mm lens. Along with remote triggers, spare batteries and cards of course, my Manfrotto tripod and various bits and bobs.Feedback
Just because it's not an exotic bird (or creature) doesn't mean it can't be a fantastic thing to shoot. Patience is important, as is being quiet.
