The little bee-eater (Merops pusillus) is a near passerine bird species in the bee-eater family Meropidae. They are residents in much of Sub-Saharan Africa. They reach a length of 15–17 cm, which makes them the smallest African bee-eater. Nice to hear they’re abundant when we hear such often “threatened” “endangered” and the like. They’re skilled hunters, sitting on a branch or the like, darting out to grab a bee, a wasp, and other insects from the air. Hard to tell if these are both female, both male, one of each—the two look alike, so I reckon they can tell, even if we can’t!
