Rawness in nature.
Ground skink and white-throated Kingfisher
I wasn't expecting much because it was a rainy day. But within a few minutes, I received this pleasant surprise.

When I went to the apartment's garden, I noticed a bird landing just above me. I was looking up when I noticed this Kingfisher with its prey in its beak. I didn't have time to move.
It was about to kill it, and the ground skink was fighting back.
I watched the entire thing until that poor ground skink went down the kingfisher's throat. (All through the viewfinder.)
It bashed that poor thing until it gave up... then tossed it up in the air, pierced its beak into the prey's body, and slowly gulped it down. Then flew away.

I truly had a disgusting feeling watching all this.
Such a cruel and raw act in nature.

I often see these Kingfishers by the river Sal when I go to South Goa. Fantastic shot. :-)

I see we use almost the same combination, only I have the Nikon D5200 coupled with the Nikkor 200-500mm lens.
