Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a very short street in Woodstock, Vermont, that always has many, many crocuses on the lawns of the two houses on that street! It's the first place I go in the spring to look for crocuses. The flowers cover the two front yards with delightful bright colors!

Time

I went to to see the crocuses in the middle of the day to get the best sunlight. It was 12:42pm when I took this shot and very sunny! The sun shines within the flowers!

Lighting

Since it was so sunny, I only had to be careful not to let my shadow get into the picture. I practically stood over the flowers and got a nice shot with the sunlight shining on the petals.

Equipment

This picture was taken with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS19 digital camera. The shot was 1/320sec.f/4 4.3 with an ISO of 100. No special equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was looking for the best shot of the crocuses - either a single flower or a bunch of flowers together, with the sun shining on them. This photo captured a bunch of crocuses together in a group with multiple bright colors and lots of sunlight.

Editing

There was no post-processing.

In my camera bag

All I have is my camera and no other accessories or equipment.

Feedback

Close-ups of flowers are always appealing. Try for diversity in color and try shooting from different and unusual angles (such as on top of them or a side view at their level on the ground).
