Location
Macon, Georgia while I was doing a model shoot.Time
It was almost 5 PM and the models and went out to the ally to take some more shots. This street gentleman came up to me asking for money to eat. His look was so interesting I said yes if I could take some shots of him. Asking his name he said Mr. Sweett spelling it for me.Lighting
I just used street lighting and camera settings since my OCFs were already set-up in the studio and I didn't really want to undo them to bring outside.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D with no flash or tripod.Inspiration
Simply, his look, his expression and hair. He looked like a man with the world on his shoulders trying to live life as he can. You can read it in his eyes. I never bothered taking a full or partial body shot only a couple of head shots.Editing
The only post-processing I did was convert the photo to black and white and added just a touch of contrast, nothing more. I didn't need anymore he made the statement with his look.In my camera bag
At the time for portraits, I was caring a Canon 6D, Canon 16-25mm L USM f/2.8 lens, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II lens, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM lens lens, and 3 Yongnou YN 560-4 speedlights, triggers, and YN E3 RT II wireless speedlight transmitter along with various filters, remote and other small equipment. For portraits, In this case, I used my 70-200mm lens.Feedback
Don't be afraid of asking people if you can take their picture, always be respectful and non-aggressive in manner. Take a look around there are many interesting looking people where their character shows in their face and eyes.
