Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this in my garage studio. I have been collecting old speakers for this specific shoot.

Time

It was in the afternoon, it was a last minute shoot I had a mua booked for a portfolio shoot that got canceled last minute. I hade this shoot in my mind for a long time and now had a payed mua with no model so I called Annabelle and the results were amazing. There is always a way to turn a bad situation into a good one.

Lighting

The lighting was a mix of studio and speedlight, I wanted to recreate a concert feel so I had a small gridded light for my key a softbox for fill and 2 gelled speedlights for the projector effects.

Equipment

I used a Canon 5d3 with a Sigma 24-35 MM lens. Elinchrome for my strobes and yungnuo speedlights.

Inspiration

I wanted to do a speaker wall shoot for a long time I'm not sure what the original inspiration was. But I wanted some sort of mix between a concert anf a fashion shoot. I love to mix styles.

Editing

A little bit of adjustment was done in lightroom and some skin fix in photoshop but I like to keep it minimal and do as much as I can in camera.

In my camera bag

My bag has a Canon 5d3,Sigma 24-35 art, Sigma 14-24 art and a Canon 70-200 lens. A couple of speedlights and some gels. I consider myself a strobist so I rarely shoot without flash.

Feedback

My best advice is to be prepared and visualize your shoot even before you touch the camera. Because this shoot was prepared and thought of in advance a cancelation for a regular shoot became an opportunity for an fun artistic one.
