Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in Calgary Alberta, in my tiny basement apartment.

Time

Photo shoot started at 12 noon and was completely before 2pm.

Lighting

One spot light used to highlight the face any body.

Equipment

Canon t4i, 18-135mm lens, tripod, no flash

Inspiration

I met this beautiful girl at school. We became study buddies. During that time she told me about her life growing up in Sudan and Egypt. Her struggle and strength made me want to photograph her, she had never been photographed before! I had a vision in my head of how I wanted it to look and the model helped complete that vision.

Editing

Edited with Adobe photoshop.

In my camera bag

My 18-135mm lens, my 75-300mm lens, my canon t4i, my 430EX speedlight flash, my Polaroid camera, and clips just in case.

Feedback

Order powder paint online (desired color) and place it on the model with a soft brush or by gently flicking the end of the brush so it splatters on the model. Play fun music during the shoots that helps incite ideas. I saw the vision of this shoot in my head and went from there.
