This shot was definitely a challenge! I needed to time it just right so the shutter would release at the exact moment that the rotating beam from the lighthouse lined up with the moon. But didn't stay open so long that the light would pass the moon. Simultaneously, I needed to get the correct exposure. If the shutter was left open too long not only would the beam not line up, but it would show up as just a flood of light across the sky. if too short a time, I might get the moon and beam to line up correctly, but I would lose the detail in the foreground of the landscape. I knew I had a limited window of time to work on it before the moon changed its position in the sky and the two would no longer line up. It took several tries with different settings. But I finally got it right. Relieved that my perseverance paid off.

A big CONGRATULATIONS!! A labor of love and I, for one, am happy you made the effort and shared it here so I can enjoy it. I am a big lighthouse fan, living very close to the Umpqua River Lighthouse in Winchester Bay, Oregon and photographing it often (even tonight since it was misty). Which lighthouse is this?
