This photo was taken at one of Dublin's dodgy lanes. During the day it attracts loads of people due to its amazing and colorful graffiti but at night its a definitely a place to avoid.Time
It was around 2pm in March so sun was quite low in the sky and as you can see from the photo slightly below the wall behind the girlLighting
Just ambient light used and placing the subject in the shade to expose it betterEquipment
sony a7iii with my trusty 85mm 1.8, handheldInspiration
I work for the company that cleans graffiti off the walls so I knew the laneway pretty well and always wanted to do a shoot there. Model was visiting Ireland for a few days and asked her if she'd be up for a small session . I really liked the walls for a background and yellow lines on the road leading up to the girlEditing
I used Lightroom for all my colour grading and than Photoshop for a bit of retouching (dodge and burn mostly)In my camera bag
I generally do weddings so I use 2 Sony a7III with Sigma 35mm 1.4 and Sony 85 1.8. I also have 16-35 and 70-200 but rarely use them as they are really heavy. Bunch of cheap but reliable Godox flashes and radio triggers.Feedback
Think about your photo before you take it rather than pressing shutter like there's no tomorrow (this is exactly what I was doing when I started). Try to pick good time of the day for it when sun is low in the sky as this to get some stunning photos. If you have to take photos at midday seek some shade. As soon as you get the photo that you really like show it to your model. Seeing nice photos during the shoot boosts people's confidence, gets them to relax which leads to eve better photos.
