Location
This photo was taken is a small beach in New Zealand, Larkings Landing, Beach Haven Auckland. This is an abandoned boat mostly kept for the kids to play with and hang around ... The conditions were overcast and wet but was excited to see my subject of interest, a boat. Glad to capture a set of different angles of the boat.Time
It was around dusk hour but the conditions were wet and overcast.Lighting
The conditions were not ideal to photograph an object due to the thick blanket of the clouds. However, I was positive enough to capture the dull mood and an attempt was supported by the changing colors at the late of the evening. I am thankful to the mother nature to open up the clouds to make a perfect ideal dusk condition. I didn't bring in my tripod so i was shooting with a fast shutter speed around 1/80th sec and aperture f10.Equipment
I used the Camera: Canon EOS 6D and my multipurpose Lens EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM at Focal Length 35.0 mm. I used a Polarization filter to cut down the uneven reflection of sunlight. No Tripod and flash is used as the light was sufficient to get a perfect exposed shot.Inspiration
I was often intrigued with the shots of random objects in a beach, like a old ship wreck, boat etc, it was good to find one such object on a very sparsely populated beach. I would have liked to capture a bit more wider frame with the motion of the clouds but i didn't carry my tripod, so i have had to settle down concentrate on the lonely object and try out different angles. This particular one came out as my best as i got the desired mood which the vibrant colored object.Editing
Not much was required but the image was taken in RAW format so i did play on the color corrections, contrast and added a bit of sharpness by CS6 sharpen filter. In my camera bag
I have some must to carry gears and some nice to have gears. The must to carry gears have added over the years and now a days the list stands as, Camera body off-course, EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Samyang 14mm F2.8 lens, a set of 77mm Polarization, ND8, ND1000 filters, shutter release, extra memory card, extra battery pack and yes a small set of cleaning kit, like the Blower, and some clean wipes. I also carry a led torch and some clean cloth which comes handy at night shoots. I also pack my tripod as a must to carry gear. Nice to have gears include Canon 1.4mm 50mm lens, Tamron 70 - 200 mm F2.8 lens, Canon 100mm F2.8 IS Macro and few more filters.Feedback
Patience is the key and always try to explore in conditions which apparently look adverse for a perfect shoot.
