Location
The photo was taken in Tarifa, Spain, the southernmost town in Europe where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. This is Los Lances beach on the Atlantic side. High tides occasionally flood the beach, but it is rather unusual for this to combine with a windless sunset and striking cloud formations. Meanwhile, the silhouettes of the people and the lifeguard lookout add some depth and interest without overpowering the scene.Time
It was taken in the evening, at sunset.Lighting
Just natural light!Equipment
This is one of my early pictures - it was shot handheld on a Nikon D70s with an 18-70 kit lens. A great camera in its day!Inspiration
I'm always waiting for spectacular light shows on the beach here. And on this occasion I was reminded of a song by Martha and the Muffins, hence the title.Editing
Just some standard post-processing of a RAW file: contrast enhancement and colour boost. In my camera bag
These days I'm a Fujifilm mirrorless shooter. There is no "normal" in my bag - it depends where I am and what I am doing. But I will have between one and three bodies with a selection of lenses ranging from an 8mm fisheye to a 400mm zoom with 1.4x converter. That covers most situations!Feedback
Be patient. Go back often. Stay longer - sometimes the light is best after the sun has gone.
