Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in Tiananmen Square (Gate of Heavenly Peace) in the center of Beijing, China.Time
The history of this square does not always match the name but I thought the spirit of the people was captured in this large statue in the square. Rather than snap a distant shot, it seemed appropriate to highlight the symbolic figures on one side at an angle that captured the figures up close.Lighting
This was taken in the late afternoon and the entire city and square was covered in smog.Equipment
We used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS6Inspiration
The thing I found compelling about the statue was it actually did seem to capture the identity and spirit of the people.Editing

We did not have a bag with us.Feedback
There are times when I prefer a narrowed view in a photograph to reveal details that often get lost when captured from a distance. After the distance was determined the angle presented itself.
