Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Cambridge Ontario while walking downtown. My husband and I wanted to take our dog for a walk near the river that runs through and I decided to take my camera in case I got inspired.

Time

This photo was taken late afternoon in the middle of winter which is why the sun was already so low and made such a perfect back drop for the church.

Lighting

I felt the sunset behind the church was beautiful so when I was editing the picture I really wanted to focus more on the light so I completely blacked out the building.

Equipment

I took this photo with my Nikon D3300. I didn’t adjust anything in the camera. There was no other equipment used.

Inspiration

I was just walking and thought it would be a great shot.

Editing

This was actually quite easy. I only boosted the light and deepened the shadows while adjusting the contrast.

In my camera bag

I usually have my camera, another lens, lens cleaner and cloth, camera manual and charger. I have a second bag I use for my tripod if I feel I will use it.

Feedback

Just wait for sunset and find a building you feel will look fantastic in front of it. Then just keep taking pictures until you get the shot you want. I’m no where near a professional so I just go with my gut.
