Location
Photo was taken outside the Chicago Board of Trade building adjacent to the Metra Station.Time
This was sunny midday, a little windy but caught the timing right in the still moment. I was headed back home from the lakefront taking photos of a parade and other activities. I cut through a side street to avoid the parade traffic exiting the area and saw tulip row. There was some strong winds that previous night and morning so most of the tulips were beat up pretty good. This one stood out from them all in the light between the rails of the overhead elevated train tracks.Lighting
It was midday and the sun was very strong.Somehow this image was still in enough light but shadowed by the elevated train tracks above. I feel the light bounced more so off the granite sides of the building. All I know is I caught this at the perfect time to have a subtle lit image with a shadowed blurred background.Equipment
At the time, it was handheld, the Nikon D7000 and 35mm lens.Inspiration
Like the title of the photo, Simple Tulip, that was the inspiration. Doing freelance photography, it was the moment in time.Editing
The only processing was a few clicks to take any motion out of the photo and to take some contrast out.In my camera bag
I switched from my Nikon equipment to Sony. So for now, it is a Sony 7RM2 with the stock 35-55 and 55-125 zoom lenses.Feedback
Don't forget to look around. You might be centered or focused on what you wanted to take photos of, ie, parade, people, cars, sports. There is always something else to capture, you just have to see it.
