Location
I took this photo standing on the bridge at Lee's Ferry in Southern Utah. This area is called Marble Canyon overlooking the Colorado River.Time
This was taken at 12:35 pm on 11/20/2017.Lighting
Because this was taken at high noon, the canyon was in shadows. Therefore, I needed to shoot one frame for the highlights and one frame for the shadows and blend together.Equipment
Shot with a Nikon D810, F8, ISO 64 at 1/160, at 18 mm with an 18-35mm lens with a polarizing filter.Inspiration
I loved the composition of the high canyon walls with the river below leading the viewer into the frame.Editing
I blended two images so I could recover the shadows on the face of the right side of the canyon wall.In my camera bag
My main lenses are the Nikon 18-35 f/3.5-4.5 and Nikon 24-85 f/3.5-4.5. I like to shoot wide on my landscapes.Feedback
This photo surprised me as to how much interest it generated. I think the key here was having a good composition, being sharp, and colorful.
