Location
This picture was taken in Blanc Sablon Quebec. The small community is a coastal town which is on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the start of the Straight of Belle Isle.Time
This was taken in the late afternoonLighting
The sky was overcast with scattered rain but lighting was still ok. It was a cold November day and the winds were 65+ km/hEquipment
I used a Canon 5D Mk III with a Sigma 150-600 F5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens. the shot was hand held as it was not possible to use a tripod because of the high winds. I got low to the ground and supported the camera and lens to minimize the effects of the wind gusts.Inspiration
The ocean was whipped up into a frenzy from the high winds and were crashing a long the shore. It was an a amazing site I wanted to try and capture that moment.Editing
Some post processing with Lightroom and Adobe CC. I did some minor brushing and clarity adjustment. Then added a photo logo in Adobe CC.In my camera bag
In this instance I was only carrying the camera and lens in a protective rain cover. I also was carrying a supply of tissues to dry off the UV lens filter as there was spray coming off the ocean.Feedback
You have to be prepared sometimes to go out when the weather conditions are not the best. So wear appropriate clothing. I was wearing wet weather gear in this case and had a camera and lens rain cover to protect it. Safety is also an important concern when the ocean has big waves. You need to respect the ocean and stay a healthy distance from the shoreline as the ocean is unpredictable. Many have been overtaken by rogue waves and swept into the sea.
