On a cold quiet calm morning we woke up to catch the milky way after which we headed out to Schwabacher's landing at Grand Teton National Park, WY. We were one of the first ones there at about 4:30 am. We took a nap and as the other photographers arrived, we got up and walked down a few hundred meters into the forest to find this beautiful spot where we caught the perfect reflection of the glowing peaks of the Teton mountains at dawn!

Schwabacher's Landing in Grand Teton National Park, WY, USATime
My wife and I woke up at 2AM to shoot the milky way near Glacier point look out after which we drove down to Schwabacher's Landing at around 3:30AM. Seeing that our's was the first car to arrive, we took a brief nap and then woke up at around 4:30, walked down to the beaver pond area and see up my tripod. The water was so still and the reflection was so clear! I just kept snapping away and as the light finally came at around 5 AM, I ended up getting this shot!Lighting
Beautiful ambient light causing alpen glow on the peak of the Teton Mountains turning them pink in color! Truly a magnificent sight!Equipment
Shot on a Canon T6i with a Sigma 17-50mm F/2.8 lens mounted on a Vanguard Veo2 235 CB tripod.Inspiration
The calm waters and the still reflections of the beautiful morning light inspired me to take this shot. I always think how majestic these mountains are, tall, old and beautiful, yet they make no sound whatsoever! Makes me wonder how much 'noise' we make as tiny little human beings when our ego is hurt to the slightest!Editing
This is a single exposure edited in LR and PS. I used luminosity masks and color channels to bring up the color and contrast in this image. Added an Orton effect and a vignette to finish it off.In my camera bag
I always travel light as I hike a lot. I have a Nikon D750 now and I usually carry a Nikkor 24-120mm F/4, a Tampon 70-210mm F/4 and a Samyang 14mm F/2.8 lens with me along with a polarizer and a couple of screw-on ND filters. I also carry a Vanguard Veo2 235CB travel tripod with me.Feedback
The Teton Mountains are such a beautiful place and there are so many photographs to take all day long. But the sunrise is perhaps the most stunning especially when there is a little bit of snow on the mountain peaks. The alpen glow is just magnificent! There are a lot of cool hikes and you can be rewarded with stunning views of the peaks. Amphitheater lake and Delta Lake are my favorite.
