During my travels to Europe, we journeyed to The Pilgrimage Church of Wies. Inside there is a wooden statue of Jesus. What's so special about this statue you might ask? In 1738, it was believed that the people who populated this town witnessed the statue weeping. Back then it was in a smaller chapel. The Vatican sent religious leaders to the chapel to see if it was true. After they witnessed what they believed to be a miracle, they commissioned the construction of the Church of Wies. Once it was completed, they moved the statue to the new church where it is still to this day.
