Location
The picture was taken at Cape Ray, Newfoundland, CanadaTime
Taken around 8:00 amLighting
The lighting was sunny, with some diffused light from existing cloud-cover.Equipment
My camera gear consisted of: canon 5d3, f4, 24 105mm lens. Lee Big Stopper filter. Manfroto tripod with a Sirui 40x ball head and a vello intervelometer.Inspiration
The waver were choppy, and I thought I could get a nice dreamy effect, contrasting the rugged rocks of the coastlineEditing
I did minimal processing in LR 6.0. I specifically took out the blue cast that is characteristic of Lee ND filters. In my camera bag
I normally have 2 cameras: a 5d Mark 3 and a 7d Mark 2. I carry the following lens: f2.8 16-35 L lens, L f4.0 24 - 105mm lens, L series f2.8 70 - 200 mm, series 2 lens, and a f4 100 - 400mm L lensFeedback
Take your time. Anytime you photograph Long Exposure, pre focus in auto, then switch to M, I sometimes tape down the manual focus so nothing moves. Bracket your shots, even though the exposure times can vary from seconds to minutes (I've gone as high as 8 minutes, depending on the light. Most importantly, figure out what you want the photo to say. Let it speak to you. Wait for the best lighting. BE PATIENT!
